Former Alabama players made an impact in Week 5 of the NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded Week 5 of the regular season Monday evening. Below is a look at how former Alabama players performed on the gridiron last week.
Lions' running back Jahmyr Gibbs logged 150-plus rushing yards and two touchdowns for the second time this season in Detroit's 45-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Gibbs finished the afternoon with 207 scrimmage yards – a new season high – thanks to 151 yards on the ground across 25 carries to go with 56 yards on five receptions. Derrick Henry tallied his second 100-yard rushing game of the season for the Ravens, registering 102 yards on 24 carries in Baltimore's 30-23 overtime win at Atlanta on Sunday Night Football. Henry also snagged an 18-yard touchdown catch for his first receiving score of the season.
Wide receiver Jameson Williams hauled in two catches, both going for scores, to add to Detroit's winning effort. Pittsburgh wideout Germie Bernard had the best game of his rookie campaign, aiding the Steelers to a 34-22 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Bernard more than doubled his previous season high in receiving yards, going for 80 on six catches, paired with his first rushing attempt of the season for a four-yard gain.
Minnesota placekicker Will Reichard continued his perfect start to the year, going 3-of-3 on field goals, including two kicks from 50-plus yards, to help the Vikings secure a 23-13 win in New Orleans over the Saints. Reichard's 15 makes and attempts are both second in the league, while his 53 total points on the season are good for third in the NFL.
On the defensive side, linebacker Will Anderson Jr. totaled four tackles, including three sacks, in Houston's 26-3 win at Tennessee. All three of the fourth-year pro's sacks came in the fourth quarter, the most for a player in the final frame since 2024. Anderson Jr.'s 7.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss both lead the league five weeks into the season.
Daron Payne logged his first sack of the 2026 campaign in the Washington Commanders' 27-27 tie with the New York Giants. Payne added a forced fumble and three tackles on the day. Jonathan Allen tallied four tackles, including his third sack of the season, in the Bengals' 31-24 win at Miami. Allen also forced and recovered a fumble on a fourth-quarter sack to help push Cincinnati to a win.
Jordan Battle made big plays in the secondary to pair with Allen's effort up front in the Bengals' victory. Battle snagged two interceptions to go with a pair of pass breakups and seven tackles, good for second on the defense. Green Bay safety Xavier McKinney tallied a pair of interceptions in a 31-7 divisional win over Chicago. McKinney also added two pass breakups and a tackle to his stat line.
