Ty Simpson Named to Golden Arm Award Watch List

The Tide quarterback is among 58 signal-callers added to the preseason watch list
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama football's Ty Simpson was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation announced Tuesday.
Simpson is among 58 quarterbacks added to the watch list for the Golden Arm Award, an award that celebrates the top senior or upperclassman quarterback who is on track to graduate with their class. The watch list will be narrowed down to semifinalists and finalists before one standout quarterback will take home the Golden Arm Award in December. The winner will be recognized at the annual Golden Arm Award ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Johnny Unitas' hometown of Baltimore.
Alabama has had three Golden Arm Award winners in program history including Jay Barker (1994), AJ McCarron (2013) and Mac Jones (2020).

- Waited his turn before being named the starting quarterback for Alabama during fall camp
- Served as the Tide's backup quarterback in 2024 prior to his elevation into a starting role
- Has appeared in 16 career games at UA, completing 29-of-50 (58.0 percent) passes for 381 yards
- Added 22 career rushing attempts for 130 yards (5.9 YPC) with three rushing scores
