Describe the team's motto/standard – "Grit, Love and Gratitude"
It means we are going to work hard not just for ourselves but for our teammates all the time. We give all our effort all the time. We are going to love each other. We are a family, and we take care of each other no matter what. The team comes before self. We are grateful for each day we can be around the game we love, and when we are able to be around people that we love. It all comes back to us being in this together and doing everything for each other.
It's the end of practice, what are you sharing during GLG time?
I am sharing about the grit of the team or of an individual that had a good day that day.
What's the biggest lesson you hope the student-athletes will take with them beyond their playing careers?
I hope our student-athletes always understand that these relationships they build while at Alabama are for a lifetime. That goes for their teammates and the staff. We will always be a family and always will be here for them. It isn't just while they are competing here, it's for life.
What is your go-to coffee order before practice/on gameday?
A vanilla sweet cream cold brew
What are you most excited about for the 2025-26 season?
I am excited to be back in Coleman Coliseum and play in front of our fans again. There is nothing that beats game time protecting your home floor. The Bahamas will be fun too though!
Get to Know: Director of Player Development and Recruiting Operations/Assistant Coach Chelsea Dungee-Artberry
It's the end of practice, what are you sharing during GLG time?
I always like to share thoughts and quotes that applies to basketball and life. If you want to maximize your potential, you must condition yourself to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. You need to embrace and intentionally leave your comfort zone with purpose. How we perform when the lights come on and the stage is set is dictated by our tolerance for discomfort when no one is looking.
What's the biggest lesson you hope the student-athletes will take with them beyond their playing careers?
While winning is always the ultimate goal in basketball, it's important to appreciate the process, the friendships, the memories and the lessons learned along the way. The same is true in life. We may not always achieve the outcome we desire, but the journey itself can be just as rewarding.
What is your go-to coffee order before practice/on gameday?
Before a game I like to be juiced up. My coffee order would be a venti oat-milk shaken espresso with two extra shots of espresso from Starbucks.
What are you most excited about for the 2025-26 season?
I'm extremely excited about the season and the endless potential we have to make history. However, I'm equally excited to grow the bond off the court with players and staff. I wholeheartedly believe getting to know your players and staff beyond surface level unlocks your highest potential to be a great coach and player. When you feel seen, heard, valued, and appreciated you want to be great in everything you do.
Which player(s) brings the most energy during the early morning practices?
We have a very energetic group this year and surprisingly they like to get up early in the morning. This summer they've had 7 a.m. boxing and it's been a joy to watch them embrace the challenge, encourage each other and uplift each other through the workout. I think they've all done a great job with bringing energy this summer. I also think our seniors have done a great job with their leadership on and off to court to establish the mindset and work ethic.
