
Trio of Crimson Tide Distance Runners Edit Program Top-10 Lists at Stanford Invitational

Ezekiel Pitireng ran UA’s fifth-fastest 3,000-meter steeplechase time (8:44.99), Dismus Lokira clocked the third-fastest 5,000-meter performance (13:25.16), while Dennis Kipruto secured the Crimson Tide’s second-fastest 10,000-meter time (27:58.10)
STANFORD, Calif. – Six Alabama track and field distance runners traveled to the pacific coast to race in a trio of events at the Stanford Invitational. All three events saw all-time UA top-10 lists get adjusted across the night of competition.
Hudson Hurst toed the line first for the Crimson Tide, clocking a personal-best in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. His 8:52.17 performance ended in a fourth-place finish in Section 3. Teammate Ezekiel Pitireng made his steeplechase debut in Section 1, running 8:44.99 en route to the fifth-fastest time in program history.
Making his outdoor track and field career debut, freshman Dismus Lokira recorded a fourth-place finish in his 5,000-meter section. His 13:25.16 time is now the third fastest in UA history.
Before the evening was done, Dennis Kipruto made his outdoor season debut, clocking a top-10 finish in his 10,000-meter section. His 27:58.10 time is a new PR and is also the second-fastest performance in school history.
