All-SEC Honors Awarded to Crimson Tide Following SEC Outdoor Championships

Fourteen UA podium finishers earned All-SEC recognition, including three first-team selections
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Fresh off runner-up finishes at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships, Alabama track and field saw 14 student-athletes earn All-SEC honors, the league office announced Tuesday.
All 14 Crimson Tide podium finishers were represented across the three teams, with three earning first-team recognition (Caren Kiplagat, Doris Lemngole, Samuel Ogazi), seven named to the second team and four collecting third-team honors.
All-SEC honors were based on results at the SEC Championships. First-place finishers were named to the first team, second-place finishers to the second team and third-place finishers to the third team. Per SEC rules, student-athletes who earned multiple medals were recognized on the highest applicable All-SEC team.
First Team All-SEC Honorees
- Rookie sensation Caren Kiplagat made the first-team list after claiming her first conference title in the women's 10,000m before also winning silver in the women's 5,000m
- Her 32:56.93 time in the 10,000m broke the facility record
- Program ace Doris Lemngole earned first-team honors after sweeping both the women's steeplechase and the 5,000m for the second consecutive year
- Became the first student-athlete in SEC history to win the steeplechase conference title three years in a row
- Fellow program standout Samuel Ogazi claimed first-team recognition after becoming the first Nigerian athlete to break the 44-second barrier in the men's 400m
- The world-leading, 43.95 performance broke the UA school record and the Nigerian national record
Second Team All-SEC Honorees
- All-American Miracle Ailes secured second-team honors after winning silver in the high jump with a personal-best clearance of 1.87 meters (6-1.50) to move her to No. 2 all-time at UA
- Ailes also competed simultaneously in long jump, earning a bronze medal behind another PR performance of 6.45 meters (21-2)
- Harry Crosby secured his first career SEC medal with a silver finish in the decathlon, accumulating 7,005 points
- Trevor Gunzell defended his silver medal in men's discus, recording a 62.40-meter (204-8) mark on his third attempt to earn second-team honors
- In her SEC Outdoor Championships debut, Cynthia Jemutai captured a second-place finish in the women's steeplechase
- Her 9:39.87 time moved her to No. 2 all-time at UA and was the fifth-best performance in the NCAA this season
- Bismack Kipchirchir picked up second-team honors after clocking a PR time of 8:33.83 in the men's steeplechase to move him to No. 4 all-time at UA
- Dismus Lokira's silver medal in the men's 5,000m awarded him second-team honors as his 29:36.88 performance marked the fifth consecutive year that Alabama finished top two in the men's event
- Ellie Partrick captured her first career SEC medal after recording a personal-best 57.41-meter mark (188-4) to secure the Tide's first silver medal in women's javelin since 2011
Third Team All-SEC Honorees
- Patrick Daves took bronze in the decathlon to earn third-team honors after accumulating 6,342 points
- Dennis Kipruto earned third-team recognition in the men's 5,000m as his 13:24.36 time moved him to No. 3 all-time at UA
- Ezekiel Pitireng's bronze medal performance in the men's steeplechase (8:34.23) landed him on the third-team list
- Christopher Young earned third-team honors in the men's discus after recording a 59.86-meter mark (196-4) on his third attempt
