BATON ROUGE, La. – Alabama softball fell to LSU, 8-0, in five innings in Friday's series opener at Tiger Park.
Alabama (27-14, 4-6 SEC) fell behind in the first after LSU (33-4, 7-3 SEC) strung together three RBI singles to take an early 3-0 lead. The Tigers doubled their lead in the bottom of the third with an RBI single coupled with an error to bring home three more and make it 6-0. A two-run homer in the fourth brought it to an eight-run lead, forcing the Crimson Tide into a must-score situation in the top of the fifth to avoid a run-rule loss. Alexis Pupillo led off the inning with a single, her second hit of the day, and pinch runner Kinley Pate eventually moved up to third base. However, Alabama could not scratch the run across as they ultimately fell, 8-0.
