Freshman Audrey Vandagriff breaks the single-game stolen base record with five

TUCSON, Ariz. – Alabama freshman Audrey Vandagriff set a new Crimson Tide single-game stolen bases record with five in Sunday's run-rule win over Western Michigan, 14-5, in six innings.

Vandagriff is the first Alabama (4-1) player to steal five bases in a game, passing the old record of four which was last met by Elissa Brown on Feb. 21, 2021 at Alabama State. The Crimson Tide's 10 stolen bases as a team ties the single-game record, previously set on Feb. 9, 2013 vs. Green Bay.

The Tide and Western Michigan (1-4) traded runs back and forth until Alabama eventually put the game out of reach with a five-run sixth inning, capped by a three-run home run from freshman Kennedy Marceaux. The home run was part of a 2-for-4 day for the rookie, one of three Tide players with multi-hit performances Sunday. Vandagriff was 3-for-3 with four runs scored from the leadoff spot with Larissa Preuitt 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and four RBIs behind her batting second. The three runs scored is a career best for the junior while the four hits, two doubles and four RBIs tie her previous best mark. In the circle, Emily Winstead (1-0) earned the win in relief, her first as a member of the Crimson Tide.

Our top two in the order today were terrific. They are very hard to defend against. Emily gave us a great relief effort in the circle as well."
