Jones Paces Alabama with Podium Finish on Fifth Day of SEC Championships

Emily Jones recorded her first individual SEC medal, finishing third in the 100 backstroke to pace the Alabama swimming and diving team on the fifth night of competition
ATHENS, Ga. – A bronze medal performance from Emily Jones paced the Alabama swimming and diving team on the fifth day of the Southeastern Conference Championships.
Jones turned in a time of 50.92 to finish third overall in the 100 backstroke and capture her first SEC individual medal.
In addition to Jones, Kaique Alves captured a fourth-place finish and Avery Wiseman captured a sixth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke. The women's 400 medley relay would place fifth while the men's relay team finished sixth.
Alabama will head into the final day of competition with the men's team in seventh place with 425 points as the women's team sits in eighth with 459 points.

- Emily Jones captured her first individual podium finish at the SEC Championships, earning bronze in the 100 backstroke with a 50.92
- Kaique Alves battled his way to the wall in the 100 breaststroke for a career-best 51.37, moving him to second all-time in program history
- Avery Wiseman reached the wall with a time of 58.51 to finish sixth in the 100 breaststroke
- Diana Petkova and Kasia Norman would both record career-best performances in the 100 breast, as Petkova won the B final with a time of 58.94 and Norman finished fourth in the heat, 12th overall, with a time of 59.35
- Trey Sheils would fall just shy of his all-time best (51.91) 100 breaststroke swim with a 51.92 for 11th place
- On the platform, Brooklyn O'Day went 262.30 in the prelims to finish ninth and earn a spot in the B final for the Tide
- The freshman bettered the effort in the consolation round, scoring a 264.85 for 10th place
- Tommy Hagar recorded a career-best 100 backstroke time (45.70) as the leadoff swimmer in the 400 medley relay
- Hager, alongside Alves, Tim Korstanje and Charlie Hawke, captured a time of 3:04.50 for sixth place
- The women's 400 medley relay team of Jones, Wiseman, Kailyn Winter and Cadence Vincent posted a time of 3:30.97 for fifth place

- The Crimson Tide will conclude the SEC Championships on Saturday, competing in the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and the men's platform, in addition to the 400 freestyle relay during the finals
- Prelims are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. CT while diving prelims will start at 10:30 a.m.
- The early heats of the mile are set to start at 1:30 p.m., while the top heat and the finals begins at 4:30 p.m.
