Alabama Matches Program Record, Leads SEC and Ranks Seventh in NCAA in Graduation Success Rate
The NCAA recently announced its latest Graduation Success Rates, and we are proud to see that we not only matched the all-time high GSR of 96, which was set a year ago, but we also lead the Southeastern Conference and rank seventh-best among power four institutions. Furthermore, 15 of our programs scored a 90-or-better with 11 programs leading the league in their respective sports, of which 10 earned perfect 100s. We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment, demonstrating our commitment to success in both competition and in the classroom. I am incredibly proud of not only our student-athletes, but also our talented and selfless staff of the Bill Battle Academic Center and our coaches for maintaining a culture of academic excellence.
NCAA Championships on Deck for Cross Country after Successful NCAA Regional Showing
Our men's and women's cross country teams left Wednesday for Columbia, Mo., in preparation for the NCAA Cross Country National Championships, which will be held Saturday morning at the Gans Creek Cross Country course. Both teams enter the event after strong performances at the NCAA Regional Championships, as the No. 9 men's squad defended its team title and program ace Doris Lemngole highlighted the women's competition by shattering the 6k course-record time (18:43.77) en route to another regional victory.
The women's 6K is scheduled for a 9:20 a.m. CT start while the men's 10K race will follow at 10:10 a.m. CT with both airing live on ESPNU.Â
Soccer Reaches Round of 32
Congratulations to head coach Wes Hart and our women's soccer team which won an exciting NCAA tournament first round game over Northwestern last Friday night to reach the Round of 32. After remaining deadlocked at 2-2 in regulation and both overtimes, the Crimson Tide outlasted the Wildcats in penalty kicks, 3-1. It is the fourth time in five years that our ladies have reached the NCAA tournament second round.
The team will next take on the tournament's No. 1 overall seed Stanford on Friday night in Palo Alto, Calif. The contest, which can be seen on ESPN+, will kick off at 9 p.m. CT on Malony Field at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. Good luck to Coach Hart and his team this weekend!
Football Plays Final Regular Season Home Game Saturday
Hard to believe we've only got two more regular season football games to go in 2025, beginning with Saturday's Senior Day tilt vs. Eastern Illinois at 1 p.m. CT. Following that game, we will close out the regular season at Auburn on Saturday, Nov. 29 for a 6:30 p.m. CT kick on ABC.
Men's Hoops Picks up Second win over Top 10 Team
How about our men's basketball team notching another win over an Associated Press Top 10 team – the second in four games this season – when it knocked off No. 8 Illinois Wednesday night, 90-86. What an exciting game and great win for head coach Nate Oats and his team who have now beat then-No. 5 St. John's in Madison Square Garden on Nov. 5 followed by last night's win, which took place in the United Center in Chicago. The team will next travel to Las Vegas for the Players Era Festival on Nov. 24-27 before returning to Coleman Coliseum on Dec. 3 to take on Clemson in the ACC/SEC Challenge.
Stellar Defense Helps Women's Basketball Remain Unbeaten
It was another solid defensive effort from our women's basketball team, which picked up back-to-back wins of over 20 points this past week. First, we took down Alabama A&M 66-43 on Monday night and followed that with a big win over Samford, picking up an 84-45 victory. The team has played stellar defense throughout the year, holding four of its five opponents to 45 or fewer points this season. Great work by our ladies to improve to 5-0!
Volleyball set to Compete at 2025 SEC Tournament
Head coach Rashinda Reed and our volleyball team will open play in the 2025 SEC Tournament on Friday at 1 p.m. CT on SEC Network. It marks the first time the SEC has held a tournament in volleyball since 2005! The Crimson Tide earned the No. 12 seed entering the event, which is being held in Savannah, Ga., and will take on No. 13 seed South Carolina inside Enmarket Arena. We have been playing our best volleyball as of late and enter tournament action having won back-to-back matches over Vanderbilt (3-1) on Nov. 14, followed by a win over Missouri (3-1) on Nov. 16 to close out the regular season. Good luck to Coach Reed and our ladies!
Swimming & Diving Competing at Georgia Invite
Our men's and women's swimming and diving teams are currently competing at the Georgia Invite this week, having competed Tuesday and Wednesday with things finishing up today. We are coming off an impress sweep of Florida State on Nov. 7, with the men winning 165-134 and the women claiming a 208.5-90.5 dominating victory.Â
Thank-A-Thon
Our student-athletes, coaches and staff are all deeply aware of the impact our donors have on Alabama Athletics. This week, nearly 200 student-athletes are participating in our eleventh annual Thank-A-Thon, taking time to call Crimson Tide Foundation donors and share their heartfelt gratitude. Our donors play a critical role in ensuring a world-class experience for the 600+ student-athletes we serve, and we are grateful for their loyalty and generosity.
A New Holiday Experience for our Fans
I would be remiss not to mention a new event this holiday season with the inaugural Merry and Bright Under the Stadium Lights "Holiday Experience" inside of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Dec. 2! The program begins at Gate 1 and includes a holiday-themed tour of the recruiting room, Alabama football home team locker room, newly refreshed LED light field tunnel and a holiday-themed light show for fans to enjoy from the stands!
Tickets are $44 per person and includes hot chocolate, tours of the spaces above and a light show. The holiday-themed Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium Light Show will take place at 5:20, 5:50, 6:20, 6:50, 7:20, and 7:50 p.m. Big Al the Elf will also be in attendance. We hope to see you there!
University Spotlight
Congratulations to Morgan Grzybowski who was announced as The University of Alabama 2025 Homecoming Queen during the annual pep rally and bonfire on the UA Quad on Nov. 14. She co-founded the Alabama women's hockey team and leads Dare to Diagnose, an organization of pre-health students that focuses on patient simulations. Certainly, a deserving honor for a special young lady.
We are also proud and would like to congratulate three of our student-athletes who were named to the Homecoming Court. Gymnastics standout Rachel Rybicki, cross country's Crawford West and swimming's Sydney Blackhurst were all named to the five-person court and are worthy of their own recognition. We are certainly proud of them and the achievements accomplished by these young women.
#RollTideFriday
Keep the #RollTideFriday photos coming! This week's submission comes from Julie Daniel Davis who sent a great photo of her with her two grandsons while at Greenway Park in Hixson, Texas. We always enjoy seeing the photos of our fans and alumni wearing the crimson and white colors. Roll Tide!

As a reminder, if you would like to submit a #RollTideFriday photo, be sure to use the hashtag in your social posts and tweet your photos to me at @Greg_Byrne.Â
