Simpson Named Maxwell Award Semifinalist

The Tide quarterback is among 13 semifinalists for the honor recognizing the nation’s top player
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama's Ty Simpson was named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced Tuesday.
Simpson is one of 13 semifinalists for the Maxwell, an award presented to the most outstanding player in college football. Finalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on Nov. 27 before the 2025 winner is announced on Dec. 11 as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
Alabama has produced five Maxwell Award winners since 2013, including AJ McCarron (2013), Derrick Henry (2015), Tua Tagovailoa (2018), DeVonta Smith (2020) and Bryce Young (2021).

- An efficient signal-caller in the midst of a breakout year for the Crimson Tide
- Contributed significantly to Alabama's 8-1 start and perfect 6-0 record in league play
- Completed 198-of-296 passes (66.9 percent) for 2,461 yards and 21 touchdowns through the air across his first nine collegiate starts
- Added 55 rushing attempts for 87 yards and two scores with his legs
- His 21 passing touchdowns and 22.0 completions per game both lead the Southeastern Conference and rank in the top 20 nationally among all Division I quarterbacks
- Also ranks among the top 20 quarterbacks in the country in passing yards and passing efficiency (159.5)
- One of just two quarterbacks nationwide to throw for 20-plus touchdowns and 2,400-plus yards with one or fewer interceptions
