Over the course of two days, the Crimson Tide amassed 14 event titles, with the final four coming on Saturday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama track and field program closed the weekend of competition Saturday at the Samford Open inside the Birmingham Crossplex. The Crimson Tide picked up where it left off Friday, accumulating four additional event titles to add to its weekend haul.
Denver Cash (men's 60m hurdles), Christopher Crawford (men's shot put), Cleo Oye-Agyepong (women's shot put) and Mye'Joi Williams (women's weight throw) captured first-place finishes throughout the day for the Crimson Tide, highlighting the program's 13 total top-five finishes.
10 of the events that Alabama competed in on Saturday featured at least one top-five finish. The long jump, pole vault, shot put and weight throw events saw multiple UA student-athletes reach the top-five threshold, highlighted by the Crimson Tide's pole vault contingent that featured four total student-athletes, across the men's and women's competitions, finish in the top four.
Head Coach Dan Waters Said
"I'm pleased with the way our team attacked this weekend after the Harvey Glance Tide and Tigers Dual Meet was cancelled due to last week's inclement weather. Several of our all-time top-10 lists were impacted this weekend, which speaks to our preparation and training over the holiday break. Reporting back in such great shape allowed us to open 2025 strong, and we will use this momentum to catapult ourselves into the rest of our indoor season."
Team Stats
- Alabama racked up 13 top-five finishes throughout the day
- 11 of those came from field events, with four from pole vault, three from shot put and two each from long jump and weight throw
