Alabama Track Accumulates 10 Event Titles in Opening Day of Samford Invitational

In addition to the 10 individual titles, the Crimson Tide had eight student-athletes move into the program’s all-time top-10 list
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama track and field program resumed its indoor season Friday on the opening day of the Samford Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex. The Crimson Tide had a strong showing with 10 individuals claiming event titles on day one, and an additional eight earning program top-10 marks.
MyeJoi Williams highlighted the day by winning the shot put with the second-longest distance in the event in program history, nearly breaking her current school record, with a toss of 17.41m (57-1.5). The Tide also swept the top two spots in six separate events - men's weight throw, women's high jump, women's 800m, men's and women's one mile and men's 3,000m
Alabama 10 first-place finishes included Miracle Ailes (women's high jump), Ruben Banks (men's weight throw), Caelyn Harris (women's long jump), Gabriella Hernandez (women's 800m), Victor Kiprop (men's one mile), Dennis Kirputo (men's 3000m), Doris Lemngole (women's one mile), Lilly Walters (women's 3000m) and Williams (women's shot put), in addition to the men's 4x400m relay team of Samuel Ogazi, Donald Chiyangwa, Peter Diebold and Antonio Crisco.
