Women’s Tennis Lands Two Transfers for 2024-25 Season

Maria Martinez Vaquero and Sara Nayar will join the Crimson Tide as graduate students
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's tennis lands transfers Maria Martinez Vaquero and Sara Nayar for the 2024-25 season, head coach Jonatan Berhane announced Monday. Both student-athletes will join the Crimson Tide for their graduate seasons.
Martinez Vaquero comes to The Capstone from the University of San Fransisco where she spent three years with the Dons, while Nayar joins UA after spending time at both NC State and Colorado.

- Played doubles in a total of 11 dual matches, going 10-1 at the No. 3 spot
- Defeated a nationally-ranked doubles opponent in 2021-22
- Ranked as high as 65th nationally in singles and 31st nationally in doubles at Colorado (2020)
- Won ITF Juniors tournaments in both Malaysia and Australia during her high school career
- Owns Grade 4 IGF Juniors Tournament win at ITF Perlis Junior Championship
- Reached the doubles final at the Queensland Junior Championships
