The Crimson Tide will play No. 6 seeded South Carolina on Thursday at 8 a.m. CT

ATHENS, Ga. – The Alabama women's tennis team (15-9) clinched the opening match of the 2024 Southeastern Conference Women's Tennis Tournament with a 4-0 victory over Missouri (5-21) on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide will advance to play No. 6-seeded South Carolina on Thursday at 8 a.m. CT at Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Alabama started off strong, with winning two doubles matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the lineup. No. 21 doubles duo Loudmilla Becheikh and Anne Marie Hiser defeated Mae Canete and Inah Canete, 6-3, while Petra Sedlackova and Anna Parkhomenko downed Gabriela Martinez and Roma Cardenas Rifka, 6-3.

The momentum continued as the Crimson Tide won the opening set on all six singles courts, before earning straight-set victories on courts one, three and five. Pitak collected the first singles point for UA, after beating Gabriela Martinez, 6-1, 6-0, on court three. Sedlackova competed in the No. 1 position for the Tide and defeated Mae Canete, 6-2, 6-1. Parkhomenko secured the match point with her win over Roma Cardenas, 6-1, 6-0, on court five, while courts two, four and six were declared unfinished.
