The Crimson Tide secured one doubles win in addition to a pair of singles victories
BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 29 Alabama women's tennis team fell to LSU, 4-2, Friday night at the LSU Tennis Complex. Petra Sedlackova and Ola Pitak picked up singles wins for the Crimson Tide, while Sedlackova and Anna Parkhomenko claimed the team's lone doubles victory.
The Tigers (14-8, 6-6 SEC) claimed the doubles point after earning wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Anita Sahdiieva and Kenna Erickson of LSU defeated Anne Marie Hiser and Loudmilla Bencheikh (6-3), while Gaby Rivera and Maya Tahan downed Klara Milicevic and Pitak (6-3). Before LSU took the 1-0 advantage, Sedlackova and Parkhomenko beat Florentine Dekkers and Aran Teixido Garcia, 6-4.
Alabama (14-8, 5-7 SEC) fought hard during singles play and earned two points after Sedlackova and Pitak picked up wins on courts two and four, respectively. Sedlackova claimed the first singles point with her win against Teixido Garcia in two sets, 6-2, 7-5. Pitak would follow on court four with a victory over Tahan also in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-2. LSU would win singles points on courts one, five and six, while the match on court three remained undefeated after Hiser forced a third set off a second-set tiebreaker. She trailed 6-1, 6-7(2-7), 3-1 when the match was decided.
