Canon Claycomb holds a share of the clubhouse lead 3-under after round one

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three Alabama men's golfers are among the top five individuals helping the No. 21 Crimson Tide to the first round lead Saturday at The Hayt. As a team, Alabama is at 6-under par 282, marking the third time in four rounds played this spring that the Tide has carded a sub-par score.

Canon Claycomb finished the day at 3-under 69, to hold a share of the overall lead entering Sunday's second round. Jonathan Griz and Jones Free also finished under par on the day with identical scores of 2-under par 70.

The second round of The Hayt, hosted by North Florida, will take place at the par 72, 6,966-yard Sawgrass Country Club.

Individual Results

Canon Claycomb collected an eagle and three birdies, along with a pair of bogeys, to finish at 3-under par
Claycomb shares the lead with Jacksonville's Alexandre Vandermoten and Ohio State's Neal Shipley
Jonathan Griz and Jones Free also carded matching rounds, with Griz collecting four birdies with two bogeys while Free had just one bogey compared to three birdies
JP Cave (73) and Thomas Ponder (73) are tied for 15^th at 1-over par for the day
Austin Coggin, who is playing as an individual, finished at 6-over 78 and is in a tie for 54^th

Team Results

Alabama holds a four-shot lead over No. 26 Ohio State (-2) as both squads are the only teams in the 14-team field to finish the day below par
Top-ranked North Carolina (+1) is in third, with No. 13 Virginia (+6) and Louisville (+7) rounding out the top five
The 14-team field features nine teams ranked among the top-60 in the most recent Spikemark Golf Rankings
