
Women's Golf Closes Play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

The Crimson Tide ended the event 15th overall
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Alabama women's golf team ended play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in 15th position overall with a team total of 879 (289-300-290) across the three-day, 54-hole tournament.
The Tide was led by Sarah Edwards (72-77-70) and Kaitlyn Schroeder (71-74-74), who each finished tied for 40th overall by carding matching scores of 6-over par 219.

"We had a decent start and finish, but the middle round took us out of the tournament. We must hit more quality shots at critical times and convert our opportunities more often if we are going to compete for championships."
ROUND THREE HIGHLIGHTS
- Sarah Edwards vaulted 23 spots up the leaderboard as she carded a low round of 1-under 71 in the final of the event and finished tied for the 40th position
- Kaitlyn Schroeder also finished tied for the 40th position with a 54-hole total 6-over par 219 (71-74-74)
- Elina Sinz tied for 49th overall and a stroke behind Schroeder at 7-over par 220 (72-73-75)
- Taylor Kehoe moved eight spots up through the final round and finished in a tie for 60th overall at 9-over 222 (74-76-72)
- Mattison Frick rounded out the UA golfers tied for 77th overall (74-76-72/222)
- Harriet Lockley competed in the event as an individual and finished tied for the 63rd position overall with a 10-over 223 (74-72-77)
TEAM RESULTS
- Of the 17-team field, none of the teams finished under par on the par 71, 6,369-yard Long Cove Club
- Arizona State (+3) secured the team title with just a 1-stroke lead on Northwestern (+4)
- Auburn (+5), South Carolina (+6) and Arkansas (+7) round out the top-5 teams in the event
UP NEXT
- Alabama will return to action March 9-10 when it travels to Augusta, Ga., to compete at the Valspar Augusta Invitational
