TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 23 Alabama women's tennis team fell to No. 24 Tennessee, 4-1, on Friday at home. The Crimson Tide's Petra Sedlackova earned the team's only point of the day with a win in singles play.
Tennessee (13-6, 5-4 SEC) swept the doubles point over Alabama after winning spots two and three, respectively. The No.49 nationally ranked doubles duo Esther Adeshina and Alana Wolfberg defeated Sedlackova and Anna Parkhomenko, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot. The Volunteers secured the 1-0 advantage over Alabama (14-6, 5-5 SEC) at the No. 3 spot after Catherine Aulia and Lauren Anzalotta downed Ola Pitak and Klara Milicevic, 6-2.
The Lady Vols went on to earn three singles points to clinch the match, but not before Sedlackova picked up the team's only point on court two. Sedlackova defeated Elza Tomase in a two-set battle, 6-2, 7-6(1). On court one, No. 17 Sofia Cabezas beat No. 46 Loudmilla Bencheikh (6-1,6-2), while Lauren Anzalotta defeated Klara Milicevic on court five (6-2, 3-6, 6-0). Catherine Aulia downed Anne Marie Hiser in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 6-3) on court three to finalize the match point for Tennessee.
