Two Crimson Tide golfers inside the top 15 to lead the way after 36 holes

PALM CITY, Fla. – The No. 6 Alabama men's golf team is in ninth place after 36 holes at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on Monday, finishing the day with a team total of 10-over par 578 (293-285). JP Cave (t10^th) finished at 2-under 140 and Canon Claycomb (t14^th) was a shot back at 1-under 141 to lead the Crimson Tide after day one.

Day One Highlights

JP Cave leads the UA golfers as he opened the day with a 1-over par 72 followed by shooting the team's low round of the day with a second-round score of 3-under 68
Canon Claycomb was the only Tide golfer to finish at par or better in each round, carding rounds of 2-under 70 and even par 71, respecitvely
Thomas Ponder is in 69^th with a 150 (75-75), while Jones Free is in a tie for 76^th with a 152 (76-76)
Jonathan Griz's only counted round of the day came in round two where he finished at even par 71

Team Highlights

The Valspar Invitational field is loaded and features five teams that are ranked inside the top 10, including four inside the top six, according to the latest Spikemark Men's Golf Rankings
No. 11 Florida State (-10) owns a six-shot lead over No. 36 Wake Forest to take the clubhouse lead entering the final round of play
No. 3 Vanderbilt (-3) and No. 4 Arizona State (-3) are tied for third, while No. 13 Arkansas rounds out the top five teams
Alabama will tee off the opening round with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT (9:30 a.m. ET) and is paired alongside Ohio State, USF and Texas Tech
