No. 6 Alabama Returns to Action at the Valspar College Invitational

The Crimson Tide will tee off in the two-day event Monday morning
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Coming off its third team championship this season at the Linger Longer Invitational, the No. 6 Alabama men's golf team is heading to Palm City, Fla., to return to action Monday morning at the Valspar College Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event hosted by the University of Houston will take place Monday and Tuesday at the par 71, 7,114-yard Floridian Golf Club.
The Lineup
- The Crimson Tide's lineup for the event is the same as last week's Linger Longer and features Canon Claycomb, Thomas Ponder, Jonathan Griz, JP Cave and Jones Free
- All five players on the Tide's starting lineup finished inside the top-25 at the Linger Longer Invitational last week, including Griz (1st), Cave (2nd) and Claycomb (3rd) sweeping this top three individual spots
- Griz was tabbed the SEC Golfer of the Week after winning medalist honors with a career-best 13-under par 203
Tournament Preview
- The Valspar Invitational field is loaded and features five teams that are ranked inside the top 10, including four inside the top six, according to the latest Spikemark Men's Golf Rankings
- In addition to the sixth-ranked Crimson Tide, the field includes No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 4 Arizona State, No. 9 Texas Tech, No. 11 Florida State, No. 13 Arkansas, No. 14 Oklahoma, No. 18 Texas, No. 23 Texas A&M, No. 25 Duke, No. 26 Ohio State, No. 36 Wake Forest and No. 47 South Florida
- Tournament host Houston and Lamar round out the 16-team field
- Alabama will tee off the opening round with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT (9:30 a.m. ET) and is paired alongside Wake Forest, Duke and Lamar
