Canon Claycomb led the Tide with a 16th-place finish

PALM CITY, Fla. – The No. 6 Alabama men's golf team finished tied for 10^th place at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational, closing play with a 54-hole total of 7-over par 859 (293-285-281). The Crimson Tide improved each round it played and finished on a high note with a tournament-low round of 3-under par 281 on Tuesday.

Canon Claycomb, who entered the week ranked No. 18 in the nation in the latest PGA TOUR University Rankings, led Alabama at 2-under par 212 (70-71-71) as he finished at-or-under par in all three rounds on the par 71, 7,114-yard Floridian Golf Course.

Individual Highlights

Canon Claycomb earned his fifth top-20 finish of the season, and third consecutive such result this spring
Claycomb finished tied for 3^rd in par 5 scoring at -8 for the event (4.33)
Thomas Ponder had the round of the day with a 5-under par 66 Tuesday, which included six birdies compared to only one bogey
Ponder leaped up the leaderboard to finish tied for 32^nd with a 3-over 216 (75-75-66)
JP Cave, who led the Tide golfers after Monday's 36 holes, closed the vent tied for 32^nd overall 4-over 217 (72-68-77) to finish tied for 37^th
Jones Free finished with a 225 (76-76-73) to place 76^th
Jonathan Griz was forced to only count one of two rounds Monday after he was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard after round one
