
Alabama Picks Up All-America Honors on Second Night of NCAA Championships

The Crimson Tide was highlighted by a 12th-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, marking the fourth time in five years UA has received All-America honors in the event
ATHENS, Ga. – For the second night in a row, Alabama captured Second Team All-America honors in an event as the 200-yard freestyle relay team finished 12th at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
Cadence Vincent, Kailyn Winter, Gaby Van Brunt and Diana Petkova recorded a time of 1:27.53, dropping three tenths of a second for a season-best performance in the event. The performance marked the fourth time in five years that Alabama secured All-America honors in the 200 freestyle relay.
Vincent's 22.19 split time was her third-fastest all-time 50 free performance, following her 22.11 swim from the 50 freestyle preliminary race earlier in the day. Winter followed with a time of 21.57, while Van Brunt captured a 22.11 split. Petkova anchored the relay with a time of 21.66.
Alabama closed the second day of competition tied for 20th place with 12 points.

- Liberty Williams recorded a season-best time in the 500 freestyle, reaching the wall with a 4:43.77
- Williams knocked over two and a half seconds off her time to finish second in her heat
- Her performance advanced her from the 61st seeded swimmer in the event to 41st
- In her first-ever individual event at the NCAA Championships, Cadence Vincent captured a time of 22.11 in the 50 freestyle
- Her performance was just a hundredth of a second off her entry time (22.10) as the freshman finished 31st in the event
