
Wiseman’s All-America Performance Highlights Alabama’s Third Night at NCAA Championships

Wiseman earned All-America honors in the 100 breaststroke for the second time in her career
ATHENS, Ga. – Avery Wiseman paced Alabama on the third day of the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, earning Second Team All-America honors in the 100 breaststroke.
Wiseman used a 58.38 to secure the second-fastest time in the B final, taking 10th-place overall in the 100 breaststroke. After touching the wall in third place following the opening 50 yards, the UA junior used a time of 15.16 over the third 25 yards to move into second place in the heat.
Overall, Wiseman improved her time from the preliminary session by two tenths of a second. Wiseman earned All-America honors in the event for the second time in her career after also earning second-team honors in 2021.
As a team, Alabama closed the third day of competition tied for 21st place with 19 points.
Meet Notes
- Both Crimson Tide freshmen, Ella Menear and Gaby Van Brunt, recorded career-best times in the 100 backstroke
- Ella Menear swam a time of 52.11 to finish 31st at the national championships, bettering her career-best time and ranking second in UA history
- Van Brunt, who opened the day in the 100 butterfly, posted a time of 52.52 in the 100 backstroke to drop over a second off her career-best mark in event, taking 36th place
- Van Brunt's time moved her to sixth all time in UA history in the 100 backstroke
- Earlier in prelims, Van Brunt swam a time of 52.35 in the 100 butterfly to finish 43rd
- Diana Petkova swam a season-best 59.47 to win her prelim heat of the 100 breaststroke
- Petkova finished 21st in the 100 breaststroke while senior Jocelyn Fisher went 1:01.25 to take 49th place

- Alabama closes the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday with preliminary races beginning at 9 a.m. CT
- Liberty Williams will swim in the early heats of the 1,650 freestyle which get underway at 2:45 p.m. while the finals get underway at 5 p.m.
