Thomas Ponder leads the Crimson Tide at 4-under par through 36 holes played

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The Alabama men's golf team finished play in the second round of the Watersound Invitational Tuesday, closing the day in 11^th place overall with a two-day team score of 12-over par 588 (287-301).

Thomas Ponder continues to lead the Crimson Tide and is in a tie for ninth position overall at 4-under par 140 (66-74).

The three-day, 54-hole event, hosted by the Crimson Tide, will conclude Wednesday and is being played on the par 72, 7,246-yard Sharks Tooth Golf Club course in Panama City, Fla.

The Highlights

A day after carding a season-best 6-under par 66, Thomas Ponder ended the second round at 2-over par and enters the find round of play at 4-under 140
Ponder leads the field in par 3 scoring (2.75, -2) and is tied for fourth on par 5 holes (4.38, -5)
After combining to shoot 7-under par on par 5 holes during round one action, the Crimson Tide finished the second round with a team total of +3 on par 5s

JP Cave (73-77) and Canon Claycomb (74-76) are tied for 58^th position overall after two rounds of play with each carding a 6-over 150
Jonathan Griz is currently in a tie for 63^rd at 151 (77-74) while Austin Coggin rounds out the Tide starters in a tie for 69^th with a 153 (74-79)
Jones Free and Luke Coyle are each competing as individuals across the three-day, 54-hole event
Free is in a tie for 40^th with a 146 (71-75), while Coyle is in 63^rd overall with a 151 (76-75)

Team Results

No. 3 Vanderbilt (-20) maintains its hold of first place in the 12-team field, owning a seven shot lead over Clemson (-13)
No. 11 Virginia (-12) is in third place with No. 12 Florida State (-9) and No. 9 Georgia Tech (-7) rounding out the top five teams
In all, the 12-team field features nine teams ranked in the Bushnell/Golfweek DI top-40 national rankings
