The Crimson Tide will tee off the three-day, 54-hole event Monday morning

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 14 Alabama men's golf team opens the 2024 spring season when it travels to Panama City Beach, Fla., to compete at the Watersound Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole event, hosted by the Crimson Tide, will take place Monday through Wednesday on the par 72, 7,246-yard Sharks Tooth Golf Club course in Panama City, Fla.

The Lineup

The Tide's starting five for the event will consist of Canon Claycomb, Thomas Ponder, JP Cave, Jonathan Griz and Austin Coggin
Additionally, Alabama will have two competing as individuals at the event in Jones Free and Luke Coyle
Claycomb, who ended the fall season ranked No. 14 in the PGA Tour University rankings, returns to the same event in which he's recorded back-to-back top-10 results, including winning his first individual medalist honor in 2022
Claycomb who has a combined total of 21-under par at the two Watersound Invititationals in which he has competed, carded a career-best tournament total of 14-under par 202 the year he claimed medalist honors and a 7-under par 209 a year ago
Claycomb (71.63) is one of three UA golfers who enter the event averaging under 72.00 strokes per round and is joined by Coggin (71.22) and Thomas Ponder (71.73)
Cave (72.45) and Griz (72.22) averaged just over the mark during the fall season
Coggin finished the fall season at a combined 7-under par across his three tournaments, joining Nick Dunlap (-33) as the only two Tide golfers to finish the fall season below par

The 12-team field features nine teams ranked in the Bushnell/Golfweek DI top-40 national rankings
In addition to No. 14 Alabama, the field includes No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 9 Georgia Tech, No. 11 Virginia, No. 12 Florida State, No. 17 Mississippi State, No. 26 Ohio State, No. 35 Oklahoma State and No. 39 Notre Dame
Clemson, NC State, Penn rounds out the tournament fields
