
Ruben Banks, Doris Lemngole Earn SEC Weekly Honors

Banks was named the league’s Men’s Field Athlete of the Week following his NCAA-leading mark at the Tiger Paw Invitational, while Lemngole received Women’s Co-Freshman of the Week honors after clocking the second-fastest indoor 5,000-meter run, of all time, in the event at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the third straight week, Alabama track and field student-athletes received weekly recognition from the Southeastern Conference. Ruben Banks was named the league's Men's Field Athlete of the Week following his NCAA-leading mark in the weight throw at the Tiger Paw Invitational, while Doris Lemngole was tabbed the Women's Co-Freshman of the Week after her historic performance in the 5,000-meter run at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Hailing from Binfield, England, Banks captured the men's weight throw event title at the Tiger Paw Invitational, hosted by Clemson. On his third throw, Banks launched a 23.88-meter (78-4.25) throw to not only set a personal-best mark, but also recorded an NCAA-leading mark in the process.
Coming from West Pokot County, Kenya, Lemngole clocked the second-fastest indoor collegiate time, of all time, in the women's 5,000-meter run (15:04.71) in Boston, Mass., at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. The standout freshman also holds the school record for Alabama.
The Crimson Tide will take a week off before starting its postseason run at the SEC Indoor Championships, Feb. 23-24, in Fayetteville, Ark.

- 5,000m – 3rd / 1st collegiately (David Hemery Valentine Invitational | Feb. 9-10)
