Kiplagat’s first-place time of 31:40.74 broke the Crimson Tide record by over 10 seconds and was the fourth-fastest time in the NCAA this season

AZUSA, Calif. – Members of the Alabama track and field team kickstarted the program's triple-meet weekend as Caren Kiplagat recorded a school-record breaking performance in the women's 10,000 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Running in Azusa, Calif., Kiplagat's 31:40.74 time was the fourth fastest in the nation this season and the 12^th-fastest, all time, in the NCAA.

On the other side of the country, in Winston-Salem, N.C., freshman teammate Cynthia Jemutai's 9:53.86 performance in the women's steeplechase became the NCAA's third-fastest time this season and the second-fastest run in UA history, behind Doris Lemngole. On the men's side of the Wake Forest Invitational, Bismack Kipchirchir's 8:34.05 run in the men's steeplechase moved him to No. 4 all-time at Alabama and ranked him seventh nationally.
