
New Mexico Collegiate Classic on the Radar for Alabama Track and Field

The Crimson Tide will travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for a two-day meet, beginning Friday afternoon
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 13/14 Alabama men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Albuquerque, N.M., this weekend for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, held at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
The Crimson Tide opens the two-day competition in the women's pole vault with Victoria Faber leading things off at noon Friday.
Saturday morning, Amani Heaven and Mye'Joi Williams lead things off for UA in the women's shot put at 11:30 a.m. CT.
THE NEW MEXICO COLLEGIATE CLASSIC

- Date: Friday, Feb. 2 – Saturday, Feb. 3
- Time: Friday, the first field event will begin at noon in the women's pole vault, with the first track event starting at 3 p.m. in the men's unseeded 200-meter dash.
- Saturday, the first field event will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the women's shot put, with the first track event starting at 11:35 a.m. in the men's unseeded 60-meter dash

- The women are traveling 12 to Albuquerque, while the men's travel list is 21 strong
LAST TIME OUT
- The Crimson Tide posted nine first-place finishes: Chandler Hayden (women's weight throw), Ruben Banks (men's weight throw), Hilda Olemomoi (women's mile), Jami Reed, Sarah Tillotson, Keaton Morrison and Joy Gill (women's distance medley relay), Hillary Cheruiyot (men's mile invitational), Khaleb McRae (men's 400-meter), Oussama El Bouchayby (men's 600-meter), Carson Burian (men's 3000-meter) and Hasani Barr, Khaleb McRae, Oussama El Bouchayby and Corde Long (men's 4x400-meter relay)
- Oussama El Bouchayby, who broke UA's school record (1:14.88) in the 600-meter event, clocked the second-fastest time in NCAA Track and Field collegiate history and recorded the fifth-fastest time in world history
- Mye'Joi Williams broke the school record in the women's shot put with a second-place, 17.52-meter (57-5.75) throw
- UA grabbed three event sweeps: mile, weight throw and 600-meter
- The Tide swept two separate events on the second day of competition, the men's 600- and 3000-meter
- It marked the second consecutive week Alabama had a first-place finish in the men's and women's weight throw, men's 3000-meter and men's 4x400-meter relay
