
Alabama Has Strong Showing on Opening Day of Georgia Invitational

Cadence Vincent helped the Crimson Tide secure two first-place finishes, 400 freestyle relay and 50 freestyle, to highlight the first day of competition
ATHENS, Ga. – Cadence Vincent helped pace the Alabama swimming and diving team to a strong opening day at the Georgia Invitational.
Vincent helped secure two first-place finishes as the women's team concluded the first day in third place with 194.5 points. The men's team recorded 189.5 points, led by Charlie Hawke and Tommy Hagar, to sit in second place in the team standings.
The Crimson Tide opened the night with the top time in the 200 freestyle relay as Vincent, Jada Scott, Kailyn Winter and Charlotte Rosendale clocked a 1:27.22, winning the event by nearly a second. The time would rank fourth nationally against marks heading into the competition.
Vincent dropped over three tenths of a second off her career-best time in the 50 freestyle to record a 21.73, the third-fastest time nationally this season and fourth-best performance in program history.
The Crimson Tide also saw a trio of silver medal performances from Charlie Hawke in the 500 freestyle (4:11.95), Tommy Hagar in the 200 individual medley (1:43.46) and UA's 400 medley relay team of Emily Jones, Diana Petkova, Victoria Raymond and Vincent ( 3:29.56).
Highlights
- Vincent secured the top 50-freestyle split in the 200 freestyle relay, opening the race with a 21.84
- She followed with a time of 21.73 in the 50 free to move her to third nationally this season while securing the fourth-fastest time in program history
- Hawke's time of 4.11.95 in the 500 freestyle placed him second in the event and ranked him third nationally this season
- Leonard Alcantara moved to fifth all-time in program history with his time of 4:15.19 in the 500 freestyle, dropping over two and a half seconds off his entry time
- Hagar posted the second-fastest time in program history in the 200 individual medley at 1:43.46
- The women's 400 medley relay team of Emily Jones, Diana Petkova, Victoria Raymond and Cadence Vincent moved to third nationally with a time of 3:29.56, while the 200 freestyle relay team of Vincent, Jada Scott, Kailyn Winter and Charlotte Rosendale secured the nation's fourth-fastest time
- Colten Cryer bettered his NCAA Zone cut, scoring a 313.60 in the finals of the 1m board
- The women's diving team placed two in the A finals as Brooklyn O'Day (279.10) and Rin Drudge (259.10) finished sixth and eighth, respectively
- Emily Jones recorded a career-best 22.22 in the 50 freestyle to move to eight all-time in program history in the event
- The men's team had eight swimmers reach the finals of the 50 freestyle and six secure a spot in the night session in the 200 individual medley
- The women's team saw success in both the 50 and 500 freestyle, advancing five athletes out of prelims in both events

- Alabama will return to action Thursday with competition beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT for swimming and 10:30 a.m. for diving
- Finals for both swimming and diving will start at 4:30 p.m.
