Kate Henderson notched the first goal of the game in the 52nd minute off a pass from Gessica Skorka
AUBURN, Ala. –– A second half goal by Kate Henderson helped the Alabama soccer team (7-3-5, 0-1-5 SEC) secure a 1-1 road draw against No. 14 Auburn (11-1-2, 3-1-2 SEC) on Thursday.
A cross from Gessica Skorka, from the right side of the field, found Henderson making a diagonal cut through box in the 52nd minute. Auburn's Carly Thatcher, however, converted a penalty kick to tie the game just seven minutes later.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"I'm proud of our team's effort and fight tonight against a very good Auburn side. Once again, we showed we are a tough team to beat. At times this season, we've shown the ability to play/compete with just about anyone in the country. We just haven't been able to do it consistently in a 90 minute game."
Game Notes
- A long run down the right side of the field by Skorka created the first goal-scoring opportunity of the game
- She would drive a ball into the box, connecting with Henderson who was nearing the six-yard box
- With her first touch, Henderson fired a shot low towards the near post to give UA the 1-0 advantage
- The Tide held the lead for seven minutes before a foul in the box set Auburn up with a penalty kick
- Thatcher would kick it low towards the left corner to tie the game for the Tigers
- Ellie Lanyi tallied a career-high four saves in the game, including a monstrous stop with just three minutes to play

- The Tide is just the third team to score a goal against Auburn this season
- Alabama has now tied two ranked opponents on the road as UA fought then-No. 11 Texas to a 2-2 draw to open Southeastern Conference play
