Harvey Glance Tide and Tigers Dual Meet to Begin 2024 Indoor Season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama track and field opens its 2024 indoor season against in-state rival Auburn Thursday night in the Harvey Glance Tide and Tigers Dual Meet. The Crimson Tide will make the short trek down I-65 to compete at the Birmingham Crossplex, with the first event scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.

Alabama's contingent will compete in a combined 26 different events, 10 field events and 16 track events.

The Tide will open the dual meet in the women's weight throw (5 p.m.) with Mye'Joi Williams and Chandler Hayden set to make their career debut in the crimson and white. At 6:10 p.m., Ruben Banks, Nathan Cooper, Tommy Danner and Barry Evans will make up the men's contingent in the men's weight throw.

On the track, the Tide will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the women's 60-meter hurdles followed by the men's 60-meter hurdles following at 6:20 p.m.

Honoring Harvey Glance

The Harvey Glance Tide and Tigers Dual Meet is named after the late Harvey Glance who passed away June 13, 2023
Glance was a four-time NCAA champion as a student-athlete at Auburn from 1976-79
A three-time Olympian and 1976 Olympic gold medal winner
Served as Auburn's track and field's head coach from 1991-96, coaching three NCAA champions and three Olympians
Crossed the state in 1997 to lead the Alabama track and field program until his retirement in 2011
Served as assistant coach for Team USA at the 2003 World Championships and coached the 2006 World Junior Team
Guided Alabama alum Kirani James of Grenada to 400-meter Olympic gold in 2012
Inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1996
Received the Congressional Gold Medal of Freedom in 2008
A native of Phenix City, Ala.

Scoring

For each event, only two members from each school will count towards the team score
Given they have two entered athletes in each event, Alabama and Auburn will each score in two of the designated places
If one school goes 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd in one event, that school will only get 1^st and 2^nd with 3^rd place being given to the first person on the opposing team
