Harvey Glance Tide vs. Tigers Dual Meet
Meet Information
The University of Alabama Track & Field team will host the Harvey Glance Tide vs. Tigers Dual Meet January 11, 2024 at the Birmingham Crossplex. Interested teams and coaches should direct meet inquiries to Dan Waters (dwaters@ia.ua.edu) and Nick Stenuf (nstenuf@ia.ua.edu).
The dual meet is named after the late Harvey Glance who passed away June 13, 2023. A three-time Olympian and 1976 Olympic gold medal winner, Glance competed at Auburn as a student-athlete from 1976-79. While at Auburn, Glance became a four-time NCAA champion before returning to his alma mater as head coach from 1991-96. One year later, Glance arrived at The Capstone and led the Crimson Tide Track and Field program from 1997 until his retirement in 2011. On the international stage, Glance served as an assistant coach for Team USA at the 2003 World Championships and coached the 2006 World Junior Team. While head coach at Alabama, Glance guided Alabama alum Kirani James of Grenada to 400-meter Olympic gold at the 2012 London Olympics. In 1996, Glance was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame before receiving the Congressional Gold Medal of Freedom in 2008.

The state of the art six lane oval track takes just ten minutes to raise or lower for banked corners. There are dual horizontal runways for pole vault, long jump and triple jump. Additionally, dual high jump approaches can be configured along with dual throwing sectors for shot-put located outside the oval.
