Johnson joins the Crimson Tide staff after having previously served as an equipment manager for the program the last two seasons
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rowing head coach Glenn Putyrae announced the addition of Zach Johnson to the program's coaching staff Thursday.
Before being brought on as an assistant coach, Johnson worked with the Crimson Tide program the last two seasons (2021-22, 2022-23), mainly serving as an equipment manager and ensuring that all UA boats were ready for competition.
Prior to arriving to Tuscaloosa, Johnson led the Yorktown men's program to a third-place finish at the 2019 Virigina Scholastic Rowing Association Championships. That summer, he also helped guide the Thompson's Boat Center's U17 crew to the US Rowing National Championship in both the Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ races.
What Head Coach Glenn Putyrae Said
"Zach is a great addition to our team. He has been with the program for a few years in varying capacities, so to have him fully on board in this role is very exciting. He brings great energy to the team and has made an immediate impact on our program."
What Assistant Coach Zach Johnson Said
