Taylor Kehoe and Sarah Edwards each earn top-20 finishes to lead the Crimson Tide
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team wrapped up the stroke play portion of the 2023 Southeastern Conference Women's Golf Championships Friday afternoon, finishing in 10th overall with a 54-hole total of 903 (293-309-301).
Both Taylor Kehoe and Sarah Edwards recorded top-20 finishes to lead the Crimson Tide. Kehoe, competing in her first SEC Championships, led UA as she tied for 15th with a three-day score of 6-over par 222 (70-77-75). Meanwhile, Edwards captured her team-leading fifth top-20 result as she tied for 18th overall at 7-over 223 (75-75-73).
Playing in soggy and overcast conditions, No. 3 LSU was the only team to score under par in Friday's third round (-4) to claim the stroke play crown with a 6-over par 870. The Tigers finished 11 shots ahead of No. 7 Auburn (+17), as the two teams earned the No. 1 and 2 seeds in Saturday's match play.
The Crimson Tide will next await a decision for NCAA Regionals, which will be announced Wednesday, April 26, at noon CT on the Golf Channel.
Head Coach Mic Potter
"I think everyone in our program is disappointed. Our goal was to get into match play and give ourselves a chance to win the SEC Championship. In the end, we wasted too many opportunities and you can't do that against the top teams in the country.
"We are hoping at this point to be selected to compete in an NCAA Regional, so our entire focus will now switch to preparing for that."
