
Five Alabama Swimmers Punch Ticket to NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships

The Crimson Tide contingent will compete March 22-25
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Five Alabama swimmers earned qualifying spots for the upcoming NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, which will be held on the campus of Minnesota, March 22-25.
Alabama's men are coming off a seventh-place team finish at the Southeastern Conference Championships with the program capturing a gold medal and three school records across the meet. Last season, the Crimson Tide earned a 14th place finish at the NCAA Championships, marking its eighth consecutive top-15 finish.
ROLLING TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
- Charlie Hawke and Victor Johansson earned their NCAA qualifying tickets in the 500 freestyle with times of 4:14.36 and 4:14.34, respectively
- Hawke will also represent the Crimson Tide in the 200 freestyle as the reigning SEC champion punched his NCAA ticket with an automatic, qualifying time of 1:31.20
- Johansson qualified for his second event in the 1,650 freestyle, with his school-record time of 14:39.63
- Derek Maas will be the third representative for UA, as he will be competing in the 100 (51.74) and 200 (1:52.69) breaststroke as well as the 200 Individual Medley (1:43.04)
- Matt Menke earned his qualifying spot in the 100 backstroke with a time of 45.51
- Mateo Miceli rounds out the individual qualifiers for Alabama in the 200 butterfly
- Miceli's qualifying time of 1:42.02 set a new school-record for the Crimson Tide at the 2023 SEC Championships
- In addition to the individual qualifiers, Alabama will be bringing Kaique Alves, Cam Auerbach, Tim Korstanje and Kacper Piotrowski as relay swimmers, where the Tide has qualified for all five relays

- Before the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, the Crimson Tide women are set to compete at the women's NCAA Championships, March 15-18, in Knoxville, Tenn.
