Jones Captures Podium Finish on Night Three of NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

Jones captured an eighth-place finish in the 100 backstroke to earn First Team All-America honors in the event
ATLANTA – Emily Jones paced Alabama on the third night of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships as the UA senior secured a podium finish.
Jones used a career-best swim to move her into the top eight and secure her first-team All-America honors in the 100 backstroke. She would finish the night in eighth place with a time of 50.97.
Additionally, the Tide's 400 medley relay team of Jones, Charlotte Rosendale, Tessa Giele and Cadence Vincent secured second-team honors off a 10th-place finish.
After the third day of events, Alabama sits in 11th place with 74.5 points.
Meet Notes
- Jones used a career-best 50.47 swim to move from the 10th seed in the 100 back to the seventh overall swimmer in the prelims
- Jones recorded a 50.94 split as the leadoff swimmer in the 400 medley relay, marking the third time during the day's event that the UA senior surpassed the 51-second mark in the event
- With its 10th-place finish in the 400 medley relay, the Tide has earned All-America honors in three relay events so far
- Mackenzie Brandt clocked a career-best 4:39.33 to climb from the 42nd seed at the meet to 17th place, falling just shy of All-America honors
