The Crimson Tide earned All-America honors in both the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Alabama men's swimming and diving team opened the 2023 NCAA Championships with two top-15 relay finishes Wednesday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn.

Alabama started the meet with an 11^th-place finish in the 200 medley relay as the contingent of Matt Menke, Derek Maas, Mateo Miceli and Tim Korstanje posted a season-best time in the event. The Crimson Tide's second swim of the night featured Charlie Hawke, Kaique Alves, Cam Auerbach and Kacper Piotrowski as the four combined for a 10^th-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay.

At the conclusion of day one, Alabama is tied for 10^th-place in the team standings with 26 points.

Crimson Tide Highlights

Menke, Maas, Miceli and Korstanje opened the meet for the Crimson Tide with an 11^th-place finish in the 200 medley relay, clocking a 1:22.70 to earn Second Team All-America honors
Hawke, Alves, Auerbach and Piotrowski posted a 6:12.66 in the 800 freestyle relay, earning Second Team All-America honors en route to a 10^th-place finish
Hawke swam the opening 200-yard freestyle in 1:31.87 for the fifth-fastest leadoff time in the 800 free relay
