Alabama’s Cam Auerbach, Derek Maas Named CSC Second-Team Academic All-Americans

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama swimming and diving's Cam Auerbach and Derek Maas were awarded Second-Team Academic All-America honors by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday.

This year's honor marks Auerbach's first appearance on the CSC Academic team. For Maas, the announcement becomes the third consecutive time that the Holland, Mich., native has made the list after being awarded first-team CSC honors in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. Both seniors currently hold a perfect 4.00 GPA with Auerbach chasing a marketing degree and Maas pursuing a master's in business administration.

Earlier this week, swimmer Kalia Antoniou, from the women's side, also earned second-team CSC Academic All-America honors for the Crimson Tide.

Finished in the top-25 of the 200 freestyle at February's SEC Championships
Will compete for the Tide at this week's NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships
Set to participate in all five relays at the national meet for the Crimson Tide

Maas' Accolades

2023 SEC Men's Swimming and Diving Scholar Athlete of the Year
Member of the 2023 SEC Community Service Team
Took seventh in the men's 200 freestyle relay at the 2023 SEC Championships and placed fifth in the men's 100 breaststroke
Has qualified for this week's 2023 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, where he will be competing in the 100 and 200 breaststroke as well as the 200 Individual Medley
Two-time CSC First-Team Academic All-American
Two-time CSCAA First-Team Scholar All-American
