
Alabama Swimming and Diving Opens NCAA Championships Wednesday in Knoxville

The Crimson Tide will have 11 swimmers competing at the national championships
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Alabama women's swimming and diving team is set to compete at the NCAA Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., at Tennessee's Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. The four-day meet will run from March 15-18.
The Crimson Tide had eight swimmers qualify for individual events, with Kalia Antoniou, Jocelyn Fisher, Emily Jones, Kensey McMahon, Diana Petkova, Rhyan White, Avery Wiseman and Cat Wright all advancing to the national championship. Alabama will be represented across nine events, with seven of those featuring multiple Crimson Tide swimmers. Mackenzie Brandt, Kasia Norman and Kailyn Winter also qualified for the meet as part of Alabama's relay contingent.
The Alabama women are coming off a fourth-place finish at the 2023 SEC Championships after earning 10 individual and one relay podium finish. Last season, the UA women earned a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, marking its best national finish in program history. It was also Alabama's second consecutive top-10 national finish.
All sessions of the 2023 Women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be streamed live on ESPN+ and live results will be available via MeetMobile.
The Meet
- The Alabama women enter the NCAA Championships ranked 11th CSCAA Coaches Poll
- Competition will get underway on Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT with the 200 medley relay, where UA is seeded fifth
- Thursday through Saturday will feature prelims and finals sessions each day, with prelims beginning at 9 a.m. CT and finals beginning at 5 p.m. CT
Alabama at the NCAA Championships
- McMahon is seeded No. 2 in the 1,650 freestyle and is seeded No. 23 in the 500 freestyle
- Wright, Petkova and Wiseman all qualified for the 200 individual medley. The trio will also race in the 100 breaststroke.
- Fisher will be the fourth representative for Alabama in the 100 breaststroke, with all four Crimson Tide swimmers seeded in the top 40 for the event
- White and Jones both punched their NCAA ticket in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke
- Antoniou will represent UA in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle, coming in ranked in the top-10 in both the 50 and 100 freestyle
- Pekova will also compete in the 100 freestyle for the Crimson Tide
- Wiseman, Wright and Fisher will also represent Alabama in the 200 breastroke, with the trio all seeded in the top-35
- Brandt, Norman and Winter will see action in the relays, where Alabama is qualified for both medley relays, as well as the 200 and 400 freestyle relays
