Alabama Records 20th Win with 88-70 Victory over Vanderbilt

The Crimson Tide moved to 9-4 in conference play, marking UA’s best league record since 1997-98
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team captured its 20th win of the season in an 88-70 victory over Vanderbilt Thursday night. The win also marked UA's ninth victory in SEC play as the Crimson Tide reached the conference milestone for the first time since 1997-98.
Five Alabama (20-6, 9-4 SEC) players finished in double figures, paced by a 17-point performance from Aaliyah Nye. Brittany Davis tallied 16 points, eight assists, five boards and five steals, while Hannah Barber tallied 14 points, six assists and two steals. Both Sarah Ashlee Barker and Megan Abrams added 10 points to the win, with Barker also recording five boards and five steals and Abrams securing three assists off the bench.
Vanderbilt (11-16, 2-11 SEC) was led by a 26-point, 11-rebound performance from Sacha Washington. Ciaja Harbison recorded 18 points and four assists while Marnel Garraud posted 14 points, five boards and three assists in the loss.

"Just want to thank everybody that came out on a horrible weather night. I know it really meant a lot to our program and our team. I hope everybody's safe across the southeast tonight and again, we just want to thank them for coming out.
"Really proud of our team, five in double figures. I thought we dominated a lot of categories. Tremendous third quarter. I'm just really proud of our team."

How It Happened
- Alabama opened with a 12-2 run forcing a timeout call by Vanderbilt (5:44)
- The Tide would outscore the Commodores 15-8 over the next 5:34 to close the quarter with a 27-10 advantage
- A three from Aaliyah Nye made it a 20-point game (30-10), but Vanderbilt chipped away at the Crimson Tide advantage to cut the score to 35-25 at the 4:23 mark
- Hannah Barber tallied five straight points, but a 9-0 run by the Commodores to close the half made it a six-point game (40-34)
- Brittany Davis (9) and Sarah Ashlee Barker (8) combined for 17 points in the half as Tide shot 48.4 percent from the floor and 47.1 percent from distance
- Vanderbilt was 46.2 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc
- UA captured an 11-5 run to start the third (51-39), before closing the quarter with a 13-8 spurt to make it a 17-point game (64-47)
- A three from Karly Weathers gave the Tide its largest lead of the game at 24 points (82-58) as Alabama secured the 18-point win 4:31 later
