Alabama Opens the 2023-24 Season with Alabama State at Coleman Coliseum

The Crimson Tide welcomes the Hornets for the sixth overall meeting between the two programs
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team will open the 2023-24 season when it welcomes Alabama State to Coleman Coliseum Monday night. The contest, which will tipoff at 4:30 p.m. CT, will be the first of four-straight home games to begin its November campaign.
Monday's game will be televised on SEC Network+ with play-by-play announcer Roger Hoover and analyst Richard Hendrix, while Gray Robertson will be on the call for the Crimson Tide Sports Network radio broadcast.

- Aaliyah Nye returns for her senior year along with fellow seniors Loyal McQueen, Sarah Ashlee Barker and JeAnna Cunningham and sophomore Karly Weathers

- Alabama was picked to finish eighth in the league's preseason coaches poll

- Alabama State concluded last season 16-15 overall and tied for second in the SWAC with a 12-6 record
- The Hornets return two of their top scorers from the 2022-23 season in Shmya Ward and Cordasia Harris
- In the SWAC preseason poll, Alabama State was picked to finish fifth
The Series
- Monday afternoon's contest will be the sixth meeting between the two programs since the series began in 2001
- The Crimson Tide leads the Hornets 3-2 while taking the last two meetings both at home and on the road
