McKinstry Selected as Semifinalist for Thorpe Award

The junior corner is one of 15 defensive backs named to the list
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry was named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday morning.
McKinstry is one of 15 semifinalists for the Thorpe which is awarded each year to the nation's top defensive back. Three finalists for the award will be named live on ESPN on Nov. 28 with the 2023 winner of the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 8.
Alabama has had two Thorpe winners in its history, first with Antonio Langham in 1993 and most recently Minkah Fitzpatrick in 2017.

- Targeted just 27 times in eight games this season, allowing only 131 total yards
- Broken up five passes to go with 20 tackles, including one for loss (-2 yards)
- Also contributed 11 punt returns for 58 yards
