
No. 19/20 Alabama Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Tops No. 20/RV Missouri in Home Meet

The Crimson Tide women defeated the Tigers 212-88, while the men’s team downed Missouri 180-118
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 19 men's and No. 20 women's Alabama swimming and diving teams swept their second meet of the season Friday, topping the No. 20/RV Missouri Tigers at the Don Gambril Olympic Pool in the Alabama Aquatic Center. The Alabama men's team posted a 180-118 victory over Missouri while the women's team defeated the Tigers 212-88.
As a whole, the women's program won 13 of 16 events, while the men won 12 events. Jada Scott paced the women's team winning three individual events as Mackenzie Brandt and Avery Wiseman tallied a pair of individual victories. Kaique Alves, Tommy Hagar, Charlie Hawke and Tim Korstanje each recorded a pair of individual titles to lead the Crimson Tide to victory. Additionally, Alabama remained undefeated on the season in relay events after sweeping the men's and women's 200-yard medley relay and the men's and women's 400 freestyle relay.

"A really good day on both sides. With this being our first SEC competition, we wanted to make sure we really respected our opponents coming in. Obviously, Missouri has two great teams, so we knew that this would be a good challenge for the team. I feel like, on both sides, we really stepped up and showed some really good stuff today."
The Women's Meet
- Scott was the only competitor at the meet to win three individual events, recording the top time in the 100 backstroke (54.24), 100 freestyle (49.05) and 200 individual medley (2:02.69)
- Mackenzie Brandt swept the distance events, posting a 10-second victory in the 500 freestyle (4:49.04) and a 16-second victory 1000 freestyle (9:58.10)
- Avery Wiseman won both breaststroke events, securing a second separation from second place in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.44) and two seconds in the 200 breaststroke (2:14.06)|
- Lockett Bowley took the top time in the 200 freestyle (1:50.60), while Laurel Blase finished first in the 200 backstroke (1:59.55)
- Cadence Vincent secured the win in the 50 freestyle (22.72) by three tenths of a second
- Ryleigh Rodgers won her second dive event this season, recording a score of 280.73 on the 1m board
- Scott, Wiseman, Kailyn Winter and Vincent posted a time of 1:38.09 in the 200 medley relay, while Vincent, Diana Petkova, Gaby Van Brunt and Winter went 3:21.77 in the 400 freestyle relay
The Men's Meet
- Hawke dominated both distance events, topping the 1000 freestyle (9:19.93) by nearly 15 seconds and the 500 freestyle (4:27.59) by seven seconds
- Alves recorded nearly a four-second victory in the 200 freestyle (1:35.82) before winning the 100 freestyle (43.48) later in the meet
- Hagar won multiple individual events for the second consecutive meet, taking the top time in the 200 backstroke (1:44.81) and 200 individual medley (1:49.49)
- Korstanje's time in the 50 freestyle (20.09) was over three tenths faster than second place. He also posted the fastest time in the 100 butterfly (47.53).
- Trey Sheils won the 100 breaststroke (53.95) and Michael Deans won the 200 breaststroke (2:00.16) to round out the individual events
- Hagar, Alves, Bernardo De Almeida and Korstanje went 1:26.98 in the 200 medley relay as Alves, Korstanje, De Almeida and Hawke posted a 2:55.72 in the 400 freestyle relay
