
Crimson Classic Meet Set to Close Alabama Cross Country's Regular Season

The Crimson Tide returns to action Friday morning for its lone home race, and final regular season meet, of the 2023 season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's and women's cross country squads return to the course Friday for their annual home race, the Crimson Classic.
The No. 22-ranked UA men will start their second 8,000-meter race of the season at 8:20 a.m. CT across the Harry Pritchett Running Course. The No. 14-ranked UA women will close the Crimson Classic at 9:20 a.m. in their first 6,000-meter race of the 2023 campaign.
Friday's meet marks the Crimson Tide's final regular season competition before postseason action begins.
About the Tide
- Doris Lemngole is coming off a week that featured her second Southeastern Conference Runner of the Week honor and her first USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week accolade for her performance at the Joe Piane Invitational
- The Alabama women are ranked No. 14 nationally/No. 1 in the South Region, while the men enter at No. 22 in the nation/No. 3 in the South Region
- Two UA runners find themselves ranked in the top 15 of FloTrack's 2023 NCAA men's cross country individual rankings
- Crimson Tide duo Hillary Cheruiyot and Victor Kiprop come in at No. 11 and No. 13, respectively
- Alabama is one of only three schools, and the only SEC school, with multiple athletes listed in the top 15 nationally

Last Time Out
- Alabama's men and women recorded a pair of top-three team finishes at the Joe Piane Invitational, marking the third consecutive race both sides placed in the top five
- Hillary Cheruiyot (2nd) and Victor Kiprop (3rd) finished within two and four seconds, respectively, of the winning time, while on the women's side, Doris Lemngole (1st) and Hilda Olemomoi (8th) recorded a pair of top-10 finishes of their own
- In her second collegiate race, Lemngole claimed her second individual title
- Her time (16:05.9) was 10 seconds faster than the second-place finisher and was the fastest reported 5K time of the week across the SEC
