TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A fourth quarter comeback fell short as the Alabama women's basketball team dropped a Thursday night heartbreaker, 66-65, to Missouri inside Coleman Coliseum.
Alabama scored 10 of the last 13 points to come within one point but was unable to find the go-ahead basket. Brittany Davis led the Tide (12-4, 1-2 SEC), tying a season-high mark with 26 points as she recorded a season-best 10 field goals. Davis also tallied three steals and six boards in the game. Jada Rice contributed 11 points, five boards and two blocks, while Sarah Ashlee Barker posted a season-high 10 points and tied a season-best mark with three steals in the game while adding seven rebounds.
Missouri (14-2, 3-0 SEC) was led by an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double performance from Sara-Rose Smith. Katlyn Gilbert paced the team in scoring with 13 points in addition to tallying five rebounds. Ashton Judd added 11 points and Lauren Hansen tallied 10 points in the win.
Alabama Head Coach Kristy Curry Said
"Really hard-fought game and a tough one to lose. Credit Missouri, they did a really phenomenal job. I thought their bench really was the difference for them tonight, especially in the first half. I think that impacted the final. We did a really good job on their two leading scorers. We just had some let downs in other spots and there's a reason they have 13 wins. They have a core leadership group that did a really good job tonight. So that's a tough one. Credit our kids for fighting and clawing and scraping themselves back into it. Made some plays down the stretch and just couldn't finish there at the end. So tough one but we will bounce back."
