Alabama Defeats Texas A&M, 61-46, For Third Straight SEC Victory

The Crimson Tide had three players in double figures in the 15-point win over the Aggies
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team captured its third consecutive win with a 61-46 victory over Texas A&M on Thursday in Coleman Coliseum.
Three Alabama (15-4, 4-2 SEC) players reached double figures with Brittany Davis and Hannah Barber both posting 14 points. Sarah Ashlee Barker had 11 points as part of a double-double performance that included 10 boards. Davis added nine boards, two blocks and two steals to the win, while Barker recorded three steals and Jada Rice had three blocks.
Kay Kay Green led the Aggies (5-12, 0-7 SEC) with 11 points, while Aaliyah Patty tallied eight points and 10 boards. Sydney Bowles recorded nine points and five rebounds in the loss.
Alabama Head Coach Kristy Curry Said
"Thank you to our crowd. I know (I say it) every time I come in here, but it just keeps getting better and better. I want to thank everybody that came out. I looked up and nearly the entire soccer team was here. Coaches are in the building, athletes are in the building, folks from town, and we need everybody in here Monday night at six o'clock. This team deserves it, but I just want to say kudos to our crowd. Just a huge Thursday night crowd on a school night and we just can't say enough. I know it means a lot to these kids that folks are coming out and supporting them, so we just really need everybody Monday night. Just want to say thank you. Thank you for coming out.
"Texas A&M on the perimeter is as good of a defensive team as we've seen all year. Joni (Taylor) does an amazing job. They play defense like the Georgia teams that she had and really do a good job and make everything hard. They're about to get someone and we were just thankful tonight that it wasn't us and we're able to make enough plays. I thought we rebounded the ball better in the second half. We were down at halftime and came out and out rebounded them by one. We made more free throws than they shot. I just thought we did a lot of things to weather their runs and just stay a distance that we were able to maintain our lead. So, you know it took all nine (players) tonight. I'm really proud of the nine kids that we have. They all did something really positive."

How It Happened
- A dominant start to the game saw Alabama leading 19-6 with 3:09 left in the opening stanza
- In the opening minutes of the second quarter, Texas A&M cut the lead to eight (23-15), but a three from Aaliyah Nye and a layup from Sarah Ashlee Barker pushed the score back out to 13 (28-15) with 5:57 remaining in the half
- Despite a 7-0 run by the Aggies to make the score 28-22, UA entered halftime leading 35-24 thanks to seven points from Hannah Barber over the final two minutes
- UA shot 44.8 percent from the floor and 50 percent from beyond the arc
- Barber led the half with 12 points, while Davis added seven points, four boards and two steals and Barker had six points and two steals
- Texas A&M was 37.0 percent from the field and just 10.0 percent from distance in the half
- UA found an 8-0 run in the middle of the third quarter that moved the team ahead 43-30 with 1:22 on the clock
- The Aggies closed the quarter with a 5-2 advantage to make it an 11-point game (45-34) heading into the final stanza
- A 6-0 start to the fourth quarter gave UA its largest lead at 51-34 with 7:50 to play
- The two teams would trade points over the final minutes of the game as Alabama took a 15-point victory
