Alabama Swimming and Diving Concludes Day One of Tri-Meet

The Crimson Tide swimming and diving teams returned to competition against Texas and Ohio State on Friday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama swimming and diving returned to action at the Alabama Aquatic Center on Friday, concluding day one of a two-day tri-meet against Texas and Ohio State.
After the first day of events, No. 14 Alabama trails both No. 2 Texas, 109.00-77.00, and No. 13 Ohio State, 124.00-62.00. On the women's side, No. 2 Texas leads the head-to-head competition against the No. 6 Crimson Tide, 114.50-71.50, while No. 5 Ohio State leads UA, 115-71.
Crimson Tide Highlights
- The Crimson Tide won three individual events and one relay during the day
- Rhyan White, Avery Wiseman, Kailyn Winter and Kalia Antoniou opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.06)
- Kensey McMahon picked up the Tide's first individual win of the meet in the women's 1,000-yard freestyle (9:44.97)
- McMahon's time was nearly three seconds faster than the next swimmer as she went 58.18 to close her last 100 yards
- Kalia Antoniou took top honors in the women's 50 freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 22.39
- Charlie Hawke, the current NCAA leader in the event, paced the men's squad, winning the 200-yard freestyle
- Hawke recorded a time of 1:34.64 to finish a half-second ahead of second place
- Additionally, Alabama saw a second-place finish from the men's 200-yard medley relay with Matt Menke, Derek Mass, Bernardo Bondra de Almeida and Hawke going 1:26.49
- Individually, Maas finished second in both the 100 individual medley (48.45) and the 100 breaststroke (53.68)

- Alabama returns to action for day two against Texas and Ohio State on Saturday
- Diving events will begin at 9 a.m. CT and swimming will start at 10:30 a.m. at the Alabama Aquatic Center
- The Crimson Tide will also celebrate Senior Day with the festivities kicking off at 10:30 a.m.
