The Crimson Tide had four different players score in the match
OREM, Utah – Alabama soccer (5-1-1) recorded a 4-1 win over Utah Valley (3-1-2) Tuesday at Clyde Field. The Crimson Tide netted three goals in the first half from Ashlynn Serepca, Reyna Reyes and Riley Mattingly Parker, before adding a second half goal from Kate Henderson in the win.
The contest capped a three-game road stretch for the Crimson Tide that included a 3-2 victory over No. 6 BYU and a 1-1 draw against Utah.
Alabama Head Coach Wes Hart Said
"Huge result today and against a very good team under tough circumstances. Three games in six days is not easy, especially when you factor in altitude, heat and the quality of our opponents. We challenged our team with this schedule and the team has answered and then some. We had a great start to the game. Once again, we dominated the ball, territory and chances, and rewarded ourselves with some great goals. A little disappointing that we gave up the goal and made it a little closer than we wanted, but credit to Utah Valley for not quitting."
How It Happened
A quick start saw the Tide leading 2-0 in the opening 10 minutes of the game. An unmarked Ashlynn Serepca netted the first goal at 6:46 off a cross from the left wing from Riley Tanner. Reyna Reyes scored in her second consecutive game off a corner, as a kick from Felicia Knox found Reyes inside the six. UA would continue to apply pressure finding a third goal in the half when Serepca picked up a rebounded shot from Tanner at the top of the box, turned and found Riley Mattingly Parker inside the box. Parker battled her defender to put her shot in the net. UA led the half in shots, 12-4, shots on goal, 9-2, and corner kicks 4-1.
Utah Valley found its lone goal at the 46:10 mark as Sydney Bushman scored off a ball played into the box. However, Kate Henderson would stretch the lead back out to three, scoring a goal at 71:45 after Sydney Vincens sent an uncollected ball from the Wolverines' goalkeeper into the box to Henderson.
