Volleyball Returns Home Hosting Auburn Saturday and Sunday

Sunday’s contest will be the Crimson Tide’s first televised match of the year, airing on the SEC Network
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After 10-straight matches on the road, Alabama volleyball returns home hosting in-state rival Auburn Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. CT in Foster Auditorium.

Scouting Alabama
- Alabama returns home this weekend, hosting Auburn for a pair of matches on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. CT
- Wednesday's match at Florida ended a 10-match road streak for the Crimson Tide, who is playing at home this weekend for the first time since week one (Aug. 26-27)
- Sunday's contest against the Tigers will be televised on the SEC Network, the first of five scheduled televised games for Alabama this season
- The Tide returns 14 players from last year's squad, including seniors Taylor Drapp, Emily Janek, Dru Kuck, Katie Shook and Alyiah Wells and fifth-year senior Abby Marjama
- Newcomers this year include freshman Micah Gryniewicz, an AVCA All-Region honoree from Chandler, Ariz., and sophomore Maddy McCormick, who played at Colorado State last season
Last Time out: at Florida
- Alabama volleyball opened Southeastern Conference play Wednesday night on the road against 12th-ranked Florida, falling in a hard-fought three set battle by set scores of 19-25, 19-25 and 17-25
- Kendyl Reaugh led the team with 12 kills, her eighth match of the season with double-digit kills, including six of her last seven
- Alyiah Wells .474 hitting percentage marked her third match of the season with a clip of .400 or higher
- Sydney Gholson led the team with three service aces, her third match this season with three or more aces
Home Sweet Home
- With a 3-0 record at Foster Auditorium so far this season, Alabama is off to its best home start since winning its first five home matches to start the 2018 campaign
- The Crimson Tide won 10 or more home matches every year from 2012-18, including a 12-1 mark in 2014, but has failed to hit that mark in the last three years
- Including this weekend's contests, Alabama has 10 home matches remaining on the 2022 schedule
Alabama Aces
- Alabama leads the SEC in service aces as a team (105, 2.19/set) while Abby Marjama (32, 0.73/set) leads the individual rankings
- The Tide is the only team with over 100 aces, 22 more than second-place Auburn with 83
- After Marjama's 32 aces, the next-highest individual total in the league is 21
- Nationally, the Crimson Tide is seventh in total aces and aces-per-set
- Marjama is fourth nationally in total aces and seventh in aces-per-set

- Alabama is slated to appear five times against SEC opponents on the ESPN family of networks this season
