
Mack, Moresco Named to All-SEC First Team, van der Biest Selected to SEC All-Freshman Team

Carolina Caminoli was rewarded for her commitment to good works as a selection on the SEC Community Service Team
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two Crimson Tide women's golfers were named to the 2022 All-Southeastern Conference First Team, as the University of Alabama women's golf team picked up a combined five honors from the league coaches, it was announced Thursday.
NCAA Franklin Regional Champion Polly Mack and The Ally Champion Benedetta Moresco were both selected to the All-SEC First Team. It marked Mack's first All-SEC honor, while Moresco has been named to the first team for two straight years. Moresco was also previously named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year earlier in the season.
Isabella van der Biest earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors, while Carolina Caminoli was rewarded for her commitment to good works as a selection on the SEC Community Service Team.
With this morning's announcement, Alabama head coach Mic Potter has produced 26 All-SEC First Team honors and 11 SEC All-Freshman Team honors.
Polly Mack, All-SEC First Team
- Leads Alabama with a 71.1 scoring average through 10 tournaments and 29 rounds
- Recorded 20 rounds of par-or-better, including nine rounds in the 60s
- Recorded a career-best 65 and tied her next-best career low of 66 at the NCAA Franklin Regional
- Team leader in contributing 28 or her 29 rounds to the team score on the season
- Through 10 tournaments, had seven finishes inside the top 10, including three finishes inside the top five and a pair of tournament titles at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic and the NCAA Franklin Regional
- Came back from a T58 placement after the first round at the SEC Championship to a T12 finish, reporting scores of 79-70-69 to climb 46 spots up the leaderboard and lead the Alabama lineup to match play
Benedetta Moresco, All-SEC First Team and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year
- 71.4 scoring average through 10 tournaments and 29 rounds in 2021-22
- Recorded 19 rounds of par-or-better, including eight rounds in the 60s
- Through 10 tournaments, had five finishes inside top 10, including three finishes inside the top five, in 2021-22
- 2021-22 The Ally Champion, setting the school record for lowest 54-hole total against par with her 19-under-par 197, lowest 36-hole total against par with her 6-under-par 66, lowest first-round total with her 9-under-par 63, and tied the school record for lowest 18-hole total and lowest 18-hole total against par with her 9-under-par 63
- 2022 Arnold Palmer Cup International Team invitee
- T18 at SEC Championships, including two rounds of par-or-better
- Fourth place at 2022 Augusta National Women's Amateur (one of just three players to record at least two rounds under par)
Isabella van der Biest, SEC All-Freshman Team
- Joined the Crimson Tide lineup at the start of the spring season, and has played in all six tournaments since then
- 75.4 scoring average through six tournaments and 17 rounds in 2021-22
- Made an immediate impact after joining the lineup, putting together scores of 75, 72 and 73 to produce a 4-over-par 220 to earn 26th place at the Moon Golf Invitational
- Had her second-best performance at the Capstone at the NCAA Franklin Regional, recording a 7-over-par 223 tournament total for a share of 36th place
- Recorded her first round under par as a part of the lineup at the NCAA Franklin Regional, carding a second-round 71
Carolina Caminoli, SEC Community Service
- 2021 Campaign Manager for Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Homecoming Queen Candidate Montana Fouts
- In 2020, 2021 and 2022, wrote "thank you" notes to Alabama Athletics staff
- In 2019, assisted fellow SAAC members in organizing a car wash, where profits were then donated to the West Alabama Food Bank
- In 2018 and 2019, fundraised money to buy Christmas gifts for needy children through Project Angel Tree, then presented those gifts to the needy children during a Christmas dinner
- In 2018, spent time in the classroom and passed out candy at a local school on Halloween
